Famous South Africans and the Areas They Live In

From white picket fences in family orientated neighbourhoods to bachelor flats and studio apartments in high rise blocks; South Africas residential zones leave little to be desired.

But how does the other half live, the celebrated cr?me of the South African crop? As youd expect in typical home-grown style: very similar to you and I. Heres what some local South African celebrities had to say about life in their hometowns and dream locations around the Rainbow Nation:

Pretty Pretoria Hazel Hinda, who plays the character of Danny Lnanu-mas in the local Afrikaans soap opera, 7de Laan, says "property is a great investment. Always go for what you really want, but keep in mind that it has to suite your pocket." Hazel lives in Water Kloof East and just loves the tranquil open spaces of the Pretoria East area. Pretoria has wonderful family orientated suburbs that are simply beautiful.

Past Pretoria and Beyond Another familiar face to have a love affair with Pretoria is South African stand up comic and actor, Hannes Brummer. Best known for his portfolio of gender-bending and side splitting characters in the Afrikaans sketch show, Kompleks, Hannes grew up in Roodepoort on the West Rand and describes it as very suburban - a slightly down-tuned version of Johannesburg. I'd most certainly raise a family there. Yet Hannes jokingly mentions that starting a family is not his primary focus at the moment. The self-proclaimed struggling artist loves Pierre van Ryneveld, a suburb of Centurion where he currently lives. "The people are down to earth and there's a sense of community" says the comedian, but looks to Mpumalanga for down-time serenity and rejuvenation.

Kaapse Kultuur As most that live in the Western Cape will agree, the Cape is definitely a lifestyle choice; almost a separate provincial entity with its local cultures and contrasting districts. David Isaacs and Oscar Petersen, minds behind the award winning theatre production, Joe Barber, live up the Capetonian life to its fullest. David currently lives in the city bowl and enjoys it because of its ever increasing shift towards becoming a cosmopolitan neighbourhood.
