Facilitator Ruth Nicholson Siguenza Chosen to Present Workshop at IAF Conference in South Africa
MILL CREEK, Wash. (Business Wire EON) July 11, 2008 -- 2008 has been a big year for Nicholson Siguenza, who earlier this year began to teach a custom-designed facilitation course accredited by the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) as a Tier II course in the IAP2 Professional Development Series. The course, Make Meetings Meaningful: Practical Facilitation, is one of only two facilitation courses in the series, and is the only one offered by a North American facilitator.
While the bulk of Ruth's work is through her private practice in Mill Creek, Washington, her workshops at conferences in Asia and Europe on such topics as developing sustainable agreements, designing complex facilitated events, and using graphics to improve group communications are consistently big draws. Despite having presented throughout the world, Nicholson Siguenza is especially excited about the opportunity to present at the IAF conference in South Africa.
"It's my first workshop ever in Africa, which is very exciting," she says. "It was an honor to be invited to speak by the IAF's regional representative for the African continent. The fact that the CPF assessment is the first event of this kind on the African continent makes it even more of an honor. I'm really looking forward to both opportunities."
Ruth Nicholson Siguenza is a trained mediator, as well as one of approximately 650 IAF Certified Professional Facilitators and about 45 IAF CPF Assessors in the world. Her specialty is working with groups addressing environmental conflict in the areas of endangered species conservation, urban growth, nuclear and hazardous waste clean-up, and military base re-use. She is also the co-author of When There Are No Easy Answers? A Facilitator's Guide to Designing Complex Events.
